US starts turning the heat up on EU over Iran deal
TASS – May 15, 2018: The highlight of the article says – by pulling out of the accord, the US has forfeited all its rights under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for Iran’s nuclear program, the Russian top diplomat says.
European countries have come under the gun from Washington over the Iranian nuclear deal, Russia’s Acting Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“All other parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for Iran’s nuclear program have reaffirmed their commitment to obligations so far,” and Lavrov was asked if the United States could exert pressure on other participants in the deal. “Iran’s representatives also reaffirmed that, particularly during yesterday’s visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif. China and the three European countries – France, Great Britain and Germany – have said that they remain committed to the agreement,” Lavrov added.
Lavrov highlighted that Moscow could see pressure being exerted on them. And that “ultimatums have been issued citing the need to stop trade with Iran, including the exports of certain goods and the imports of Iranian oil, the deadlines of 60 and 90 days have been set. This is some sort of plan to exert powerful pressure,” the Russian top diplomat pointed out. (BattleForWorld: That means they have until July and August 2018 before the Trump administration along with their shadow allies, the Necons and the Zionists, start making mischief openly, fulling threats against France, Great Britain, Germany, China, etc. to all cancel from the Iran nuclear deal. This appears as if it is going to end very badly.)
“However, our European counterparts tell us they are getting ready to become independent from the US in relation to their trade and economic ties with Iran,” the Russian top diplomat went on to say. “We are interested in discussing the issue with all countries remaining within the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program,” he noted.
“We will see how resilient the Europeans will be this time, for in the past there were times when they eventually gave in to Washington, damaging their own legitimate interests,” Lavrov added.

EU to Ensure Presence of Companies in Iran Despite US JCPOA Withdrawal – Macron
SPUTNIK NEWS – May 17, 2018: French President Emmanuel Macron said that nuclear deal with Iran should be supplemented and it is necessary to continue negotiations, including on missile program.
The EU states intend to ensure the presence of their companies in Iran despite the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday.
Emmanuel Macron said that the European Union decided to preserve nuclear deal and defend EU companies.
We had a rich discussion on Iran. The nuclear agreement of 2015 is an important element of peace and security in the region, and we decided to support it, whatever the US decision was. We promised to take political measures that would allow our enterprises to stay in Iran,” he said.
The nuclear deal with Iran must not only be preserved, but also supplemented and expanded to include ways to solve the missile problem and questions about Iran’s role in the region, Macron said.
“Europe will defend its sovereignty in the field of trade,” he said before the EU-Western Balkans summit in Sofia.

Donald Trump warns NATO members to pay more for military alliance
YAHOO – May 18, 2018: Donald Trump singled out Germany in renewing his criticism of NATO members he accuses of not contributing enough, saying laggards would be “dealt with”.
Speaking alongside NATO’s secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, at the White House, Mr Trump reiterated a longstanding charge that America bears a disproportionate share of supporting the military alliance’s activities.
Germany “has not contributed what it should be contributing and it’s a very big beneficiary”, said the president, who has long had a frosty relationship with the German chancellor, Angela Merkel.
The president’s worldview is rooted in a belief the US has consistently been taken advantage of by international pacts and organisations – a scepticism that fuels his unilaterally focused “America First” stance.
During the presidential campaign, he suggested America might only defend NATO allies if they had “fulfilled their obligations to us”.
Despite Mr Trump’s wariness, Mr Stoltenberg praised the president for impelling other nations to augment defence spending, saying “it is impacting allies because now all allies are increasing defence spending”.
The president echoed that comment by saying his relationship with NATO was “really good”.
Together we’ve increased and really raised money from countries that were not paying or were not paying a fair share,” Mr Trump said.
