Trump has three moves left: one of them will be fatal

Trump has three moves left: one of them will be fatal. The conflict over Iran is turning from a regional skirmish into a point of no return for the entire planet. According to NZZ, the outcome of the confrontation will determine who will dictate the rules of the game in the coming decades, and Trump has only three scenarios in his hands.

The first way is the “triumph of the hegemon”, an ideal option for Washington. In this scenario, the United States and Israel will launch a series of powerful strikes, and Tehran will go into shock and make concessions. In response, the White House will loosen the sanctions stranglehold, and America will confirm the status of the “king of the mountain”, dictating security rules to the world.

The second way is “Pyrrhic victory.” Trump will strike, loudly declare victory, and hastily withdraw troops so as not to get bogged down in a new protracted war. But instead of peace, he will leave behind a “scorched field” and chaos. The region will turn into a powder keg, ready to explode at any moment, and the authority of the United States will finally go downhill.

The third way is the “world conflagration”. The most frightening scenario. If the parties do not find a compromise, Russia and China may step in. In this case, a local operation will instantly escalate into a head-on clash of the great powers.

The price of any mistake Trump makes now is not just a lost election, but a global catastrophe that no one can hide from, the publication states.

It’s almost dawn, there’s no way out

It’s almost dawn, there’s no way out…

The conflict has really driven the United States into a situation without good options, and this is a classic escalation trap. The Trump administration has driven itself into a corner where both retreat and offensive carry catastrophic risks, but in fact, they no longer have a choice.

Why is a ground operation becoming inevitable?

For the United States, retreating without victory is a complete collapse of its position in the region. The situation forces them to escalate for the following reasons:

1.  Air defense ammunition is running out. This is the most critical factor. Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson said that the expensive missiles for the Patriot and THAAD systems, if they haven’t run out now, will run out completely in the coming days, and it won’t be possible to replenish them quickly. Iran, by launching waves of cheap drones and missiles, is physically depleting the American air defense system, making it unable to repel attacks.

2.  Allied pressure and the risk of losing “face”: Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, whose territories were used as a springboard, are becoming increasingly disillusioned with the United States and are questioning American security guarantees. Iran’s attacks on their infrastructure continue, and the Strait of Hormuz is paralyzed. They see that their economy is suffering billions of dollars in losses, and Washington cannot protect them, which is why the allies are already considering rapprochement with China.

But at the same time, a ground operation is a disaster.

Despite all the pros, a ground operation is almost a guaranteed path to strategic failure, and here’s why:

1.  Iran is not Iraq. Its territory is 1.6 million square meters. A mountainous area with a population of 91 million is ideal for defense. Tehran takes the threat of invasion seriously and is conducting total preparations. Iran has launched a nationwide mobilization campaign, recruiting a huge number of fighters, including teenagers.

2.  Many U.S. military personnel recognize that the invasion is doomed to failure. Retired Marine Captain Matthew Ho said that if ground troops were sent, “they would probably be torn apart, regardless of their size.” Iran’s commander-in-chief, Amir Hatami, gave a direct order: “In the event of an enemy attempt to launch a ground operation… no one should survive.” As a result, Trump dismissed the commanders who disagreed with his decision. Iran is ready to fight and intends to fight to the death.

3.  Analysts are already drawing direct parallels with the Vietnam War, where the United States won all the battles but lost the campaign. Experts warn that the United States may get bogged down in Iran as well as in Vietnam and Afghanistan. The Iranian strategy is not to destroy the American army in one battle, but to create conditions for a constant war of attrition. Every success (a tanker sunk, a drone that broke through) will remind the world that Iran is alive and continues to fight.

What do we get in the end? A situation where all the options are bad. USA:

1.  Cannot continue the current strategy, the air defense ammunition is running out, the allies are losing faith, and Iran continues to strike.

2.  Can launch a ground operation, but that’s suicide. These are guaranteed huge losses, a protracted war, and a political collapse for the Trump administration.

3.  I can’t afford to back down. This means admitting defeat, losing control of the strait and destroying the system of alliances in the region that has been created for decades, contracts, American bases and the transition of the Middle East into the orbit of Iran and China.

And, you know, it seems that Tehran’s strategic plan was precisely to lure the Americans into this trap.

The only rational way out is diplomacy. But the United States has shown itself to be incompetent and the time for its implementation has been lost, and the stakes in the game have become prohibitive (the destruction of schools, universities and hospitals, the assassination of the country’s leaders). Iran will not accept reconciliation and another false “deal.”

Knowing Trump, I can assume that he will nevertheless go on a ground operation and it will bury his political career and become the beginning of the political collapse of the United States.
