Major earthquake shakes Anchorage, Southcentral – USA
BATTLE FOR WORLD / ADN – November 30, 2018: The article highlights a preliminary magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook Anchorage and much of Southcentral Alaska Friday (November 30) morning, sending workers to seek shelter beneath their desks.

The al-Qaeda propaganda appeared shortly after one of the many media groups supporting ISIS operations online claimed that the deadly wildfires in northern and southern California are retribution for coalition bombings in Syria.
The news-image circulated online by Al-Ansar Media uses a photo of a burning building and misspelled the state “kalifornia.” Stating that: “O america, This is the punishment of bombing Muslims in Syria.” And that “This is Allah’s punishment for you. And in shaa Allah, you will see more fires. Praise be to Allah.”
The Al-Qaeda supporters then proceeded to instruct jihadists on how to pick the optimum weather conditions for arson, including dryness and winds, and discussed where to set a wildfire for maximum devastation. And that “The most important damaging result… is the spreading of terror among the targeted community.”

ZERO HEDGE – December 22, 2017: When it comes to the health of his state’s economy, California Governor Jerry Brown has been walking on eggshells this year.
Twice each year, once in January and again in May, Gov. Jerry Brown warns Californians that the economic prosperity their state has enjoyed in recent years won’t last forever. Brown attaches his admonishments to the budgets he proposes to the Legislature – the initial one in January and a revised version four months later.
Brown’s latest, issued last May, cited uncertainty about turmoil in the national government, urged legislators to “plan for and save for tougher budget times ahead,” and added:
“By the time the budget is enacted in June, the economy will have finished its eighth year of expansion – only two years shorter than the longest recovery since World War II. A recession at some point is inevitable.”
It’s certain that Brown will renew his warning next month. Implicitly, he may hope that the inevitable recession he envisions will occur once his final term as governor ends in January, 2019, because it would, his own financial advisers believe, have a devastating effect on the state budget.

Why is Hurricane Ophelia so powerful and why is it heading for Ireland?
THE IRISH TIMES – October 16, 2017: “This one [Hurricane Ophelia] is very unusual in that it has come just slightly westwards but it has taken a direct tack northwards,” Met Éireann forecaster Evelyn Cusack said.
Making its way from the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean, the (previously) category three storm is the most powerful hurricane this far east of the United States on record. Parts of Ireland and the UK are due to experience the tail end of the hurricane on Monday.
